From talking on the TEDx stage to keynoting major conferences and corporate events, I try to set the conditions for a wider epiphany around how we should be living and learning.

The Future of Learning

If the assembly line was the central design principle of the Industrial age, what is the central design principle in the age of AI? In this 2017 talk, I try to outline a vision of the future of learning that is hopeful, surprising, and deeply moving.

In the Machine Age, What Makes Us Human?

In this October 2024 keynote address at the Montessori Foundation’s Annual Conference, the U.S. presidential election was less than a week away — and newspapers had just reported the tragic death of a young person whose chatbot had unwittingly urged him to commit suicide.

In response, I tried to provide some shared context for the moment in which we all find ourselves, and what it’s requiring of us — a task I approached by trying to answer three questions: What’s new? What’s not? And what’s next?
